In caustic injury, how can acid injured more extensively to stamach as there is already a acid in stomach???
The normal HCL (hydrochloric acid )concentration in the stomach is no more than 0.3% but the commercial concentration of HCL is up to 36% ,hence the damage is very severe
Damage to stomach is prevented by thin mucosal layer on surface of cells, thus I think it is more than body capacity!
I don't know, but in esophagus acid make coagulative necrosis and alkaline make liquefactive necrosis so the damage is more sever by alkaline.
