Why is fibrinogen elevated in inflammation?

Cytokines stimulate the hepatocytes to produce 3 special protiens one of which is fibrinogen.Fibrinogen binds to red cells making them to sediment. When you do an erythrocyte sedimentation rate test it is elevated proving an inflammation in the body.
