Researchers at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland are conducting trials for physiological therapy that may help fix a broken heart. The three-year-long study will recruit 90 Scottish volunteers within three weeks of doctors diagnosing them with this takotsubo cardiomyopathy, commonly known as broken heart syndrome. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy affects thousands of people each year, the majority of them are women and approximately one to two per cent of those diagnosed with this condition are likely to experience heart attacks. .
