Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is a rare condition that causes small patches of red and swollen tissue, called granulomas, to develop in the organs of the body. It usually affects the lungs and skin. The symptoms of sarcoidosis depend on which organs are affected, but typically include: tender, red bumps on the skin shortness of breath a persistent cough For many people with sarcoidosis, symptoms often improve without treatment within a few months or years. For these people, the symptoms are not usually severe. However, a few people find their symptoms develop gradually and get worse over time, to the point where they become severely affected. This is known as chronic sarcoidosis. There is currently no cure but symptoms can usually be managed with medicine.
