Post operative

Post operative

My 92 yr old Mother is 4/5 days post operative. Doctor took her coverings off and found this. Surgeon said after surgery that it was bursa. What now?? Diagnosis please!! Why aren’t toes discolored?

The discoloration is bruising following surgery. I would not expect that to reach the toes. She appears to have a post-op infection.

Thank you

Looks like the bandage was too tight. Maybe clean it up a little?

I thought of that myself. Seems to be too evenly colored to be a bruise.

What type of operation she had? Also bursa is an anatomical part of a joint. It does not indicate disease. I did not quite understand what her surgeon tried to say..

No one seemed to know what she had until after the surgery. When they opened it up the dr said it was bursa (fluid filled sac on the joint area) . He also said he didn’t know what caused this condition after surgery. She is now cleaning and changing the bandage ever day. Looks much better now but slow going with the healing and pain.
