Immune Hydrops Fetalis Immune hydrops fetalis occurs as a consequence of RH incompatibility. It is a preventable condition. It is also known as hemolytic disease of the newborn. 2. Nonimmune Hydrops Fetalis: Almost 90% cases of hydrops fetalis are nonimmune type. It may occur due to congenital anomaly in the fetus that disable the processing of fluids in the newborn. Cardiac, pulmonary, and blood diseases are underlying causes of nonimmune hydrops fetalis.
