Sugar addiction is a behavioral addiction. Consuming sweet dish or raw sugar at particular time of day, such as after meals, builds a habit. Gradually, it becomes an addiction. After building addiction, not consuming sugar produces withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms include headache, insomnia, distress, restlessness, and tiredness. Sugar stimulates the release of dopamine which is the integral part of reward circuit in brain. Reinforcing the habit of eating sugar in any form reinforces the release of dopamine. Ultimately, you get addicted to dopamine and to stimulate its release you need to consume more sugar. By the time you realize you are already diabetic. Addiction is a strong word for sugar. It is more like a habit.
