Why radon leak in home is a health hazard?
Radon is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. It is a potentially dangerous gas as sometimes it accumulates in places with improper ventilation especially in underground mines and basements. When uranium, radium or thorium break down in water, soil or rock radon gas produces and fills property basements, cracks and crawlspaces. Ultimately, it reaches residing rooms. Since it is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas therefore, nobody knows if there is a leakage. It is best to conduct checkup of property by National Safety Council’s Radon Hotline. Breathing radon for long periods exposes you to risk of lung cancer.
