Clinically, differentiating between chronic arterial stenosis of lower limb and cellulitis may be difficult to differentiate. One clinical sign is a sunset foot sign to differentiate between two. The affected leg is raised and held up for a while. If it turns white and cold, it may indicate chronic arterial stenosis of the lower extremity. Putting the leg down would resume blood flow to the foot under the effect of gravity. Hence, the leg would regain its red discoloration. This is called sunset foot sign.
