Wren Bowell, from Bristol, was bringing her parents a drawing she made when she tripped over a baby gate and fell face-first onto a pencil. The pencil pierced the tot's right eye socket and plunged an inch-and-a-half into her brain. The girl was rushed to the ER where neurosurgeons spent four hours operating on her. According to her father: "The pencil was stuck so hard that they had to pull part of her face off and take out part of her skull to take out the pencil. They then put Wren's skull back together with plastic plates and screws which will biodegrade" Ian Pople, the neurosurgeon said: "It just skirted the top of the eye and that it didn't damage the eyeball itself was very fortunate. She was very lucky not to have suffered any permanent damage as far as we can see." Little Wren spent three weeks at the hospital and was then released. What insurance would I need to have that type of coverage? Haha
Several AETNA, UnitedHealthcare or Anthem, plans offer very high coverages.
