The most common chronic manifestation of cutaneous lupus is discoid lupus erythematosus. The condition is characterized by alopecia, scarring, pigmentation, discoid plaques, and scales. One of the major aims of management of discoid lupus erythematosus is to identify and avoid triggers such as sun exposure, cigarette smoke, etc. In addition, topical and intralesional corticosteroids are also administered. Tacrolimus or pimecrolimus creams may be given.
