Dengue Rash Pain behind eyes and dengue rash are important dengue markers which differentiate it from other seasonal fevers and infections. Red, small and pinhead-like dengue rash appears 3-4 days after the onset of fever and persists 2-3 days. It covers the whole body mainly face, flexor surfaces and thorax however, it spares the islands of skin. The rash becomes a part of skin as it can’t be felt by running your hand over it. The rash may be itchy. The itching of rashes makes a patient quite uncomfortable. Rash is accompanied by swelling of palms and soles. Dengue rash either resolves after the fever subsides or it worsens if the fever decides to persist. Persistent and worsening rash indicates progressive decline in platelet count. It must be taken seriously as it can lead to severe complications. It is necessary to note that dengue rash, although a significant character of dengue, does not appear in all dengue cases.
