Methylprednisolone belongs to the class of Corticosteroids. This drug is mainly used to alleviate inflammation. Methylprednisolone is prescribed for the treatment of endocrine disorders e.g. Primary and secondary adrenocortical insufficiency, rheumatic disorders e.g. Rheumatoid arthritis, collagen diseases e.g. Systemic dermatomyositis, skin diseases e.g. Psoriasis, GIT disorders e.g. ulcers, infections and hematologic disorders e.g. low platelet level. The side effects of Methylprednisolone include - Headache - Weight gain - Hypertension - Nausea - Edema of limbs - Increased thirst - Acne - Muscle weakness - Confusion and loss of mental clarity - Anxiety - Eye pain - Allergy-like symptoms e.g. sneezing, coughing, sore throat, runny nose Methylprednisolone interacts with the following drugs. - Cyclosporine - Ketoconazole - Warfarin - Heparin - Aspirin - Phenytoin - Rifampin - Phenobarbital
