What is the role of travel history related to Zika virus infection in pregnancy?
Zika virus produces severe complications during pregnancy. A pregnant woman can transmit the virus to the fetus which causes microcephaly and critical neurological problems. Therefore travelling to endemic or susceptible countries is restricted during pregnancy. To prrevent Zika virus infection; • Implement measures to prevent mosquito bites • Avoid sexual exposure or use condoms during and after travel • Wait 2 months after returning from traveling before planning pregnancy • Do not have sex if you get pregnant during or after the travel
