Structure of Zika Virus Zika virus, a single-stranded RNA virus, belongs to Flavivirus genus and Flaviviridae family. The outer surface of Zika virus is tightly packed with a coat of envelope proteins with a glycosylated asparagines amino acid on the protein coat. There 180 envelope glycoproteins which constitute the icosahedral shell. In each envelope glycoprotein there is Asn154 glycosylation site which is surrounded by 10 amino acids.
