Enterovirus is a group of 71 human serotypes of single-stranded RNA viruses. This group of viruses further falls into two categories; polio viruses and non-polio viruses. Successful vaccination campaigns have run across the world to eradicate polio virus. However, non-polio viruses commonly infect humans living under compromised hygiene and sanitization. Enteroviruses infect individuals of all age group especially infants. The symptoms are often mild but persistent. There is no specific treatment for enterovirus infection. Enterovirus infections can be prevented easily by maintaining hand hygiene and general hygiene.
