What is included in the long-term monitoring of patients with herpes simplex virus (HSV) keratitis?
Long-term Management of HSV Keratitis • Close monitoring in OPD till the disease becomes inactive • Culture of unusual corneal infiltrate to rule out secondary microbial infection which is managed with topical antifungal or antibacterial agents • Discontinue tarsorrhaphy and topical antivirals in case of topical corneal toxicity and neurotrophic disease • Discontinue wearing contact lenses as it increases the risk of secondary infection
