Pheochromocytoma is a benign tumor of the adrenal glands. It can occur in one or both adrenal glands at the same time. Since adrenal gland is associated with release of epinephrine and norepinephrine, the excessive release of these hormones from pheochromocytoma can result in complaints such as headache, hypertension, palpitations, sweating, and panic. The cornerstone of management of pheochromocytoma is surgical removal of adrenal gland.
