WHITE SPONGE NEVUS

WHITE SPONGE NEVUS

White sponge nevus is a relatively rare genodermatosis that is inherited as autosomal dominant trait. In the 30-member family of keratin filaments, the pair of keratins known as keratin 4 and keratin 13 is specifically expressed in the spinous cell layer of mucosal epithelium. In most instances, symmetrical, thickened, white, corrugated or velvety, diffuse plaques affect the buccal mucosa bilaterally. The lesions of white sponge nevus usually appear at birth or in early childhood, but sometimes the condition develops during adolescence. by: https://healthjade.net/white-sponge-nevus/
