This great medicograph allows you to comprehend the topography of the meninges and the sinus system around the brain:) •Meninges: “Below the skull and around the spinal cord are three special coverings called the meninges”. The outer layer of the meninges is called the dura mater or simply the dura. The dura is tough and thick and it can restrict the movement of the brain within the skull. This protects the brain from movements that may stretch and break brain blood vessels. The middle layer of the meninges is called the arachnoid, which secretes the Cerebrospinal fluid. The inner layer, the one closest to the brain, is called the pia mater or pia. Mnemonic : PAD (Pia,Arachnoid,Dura). •Sinus system: sinuses are duplicates or folds of the dura that drain the venous blood away from the brain. 📷•Medicogram• #letslearn #meninges #surgery #brain #neurosurgery #love #anatomy #medicogram
