Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease by a bacteria named chlamydia trachomatis. It is transmitted through coming in contact with infected genital secretions. Chlamydia may stay symptomless in most people. Some will develop signs after a few weeks including: increased vaginal discharge, pain and burning micturition and sexual intercourse, abnormal uterine bleeding, white cloudy discharge and perineal pain. Diagnosis is made by urine exam or swab test. Treatment options include: azithromycin and doxycycline. Infection takes up to 2 weeks to clear, It is suggested to refrain from sexual interactions till then and if possible take test to confirm clearance. Complications of disease include: PID (pelvic inflammatory disease, HIV, infertility.
