When should asymptomatic individuals undergo coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) diagnostic tests?
Many new variants of the virus cause asymptomatic infections. Presence of symptoms also depends upon the host's immune status. Hence for all those who don't display any symptoms, contact tracing of an identified case is done followed by diagnostic tests for potential carriers to confirm the presence of a Covid-19 infection.
Asymptomatic COVID-19 patients should be tested within 48-72 hours of admission.
