RT-PCR RT-PCR is a diagnostic test of COVID-19. This nuclear-derived test has the tendency to detect the genetic material in any pathogen including SARS-CoV-2. Previously, RT-PCR employed isotope markers to target genetic material and detect the strain. However after years of refining today, isotope markers have been replaced with fluorescence dyes. RT PCR is of two types; Real Time and Conventional. Real Time produces results quickly whereas Conventional takes time.
