How is hepatitis C transmitted?
Hepatitis C is transmitted via contact with infected blood through contaminated needles, syringes and other such equipment (Also through blood transfusions)
Infection of liver cells caused by the virus hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is an RNA virus spread by coming in contact with infected blood. It can also be spread by sexual contact and vertical transmission to the baby is also present. It presents as a flu-like symptoms like malaise. Hepatitis C has an 85% chance of developing into a chronic infection. Investigation of the disease includes: HCV RNA levels, Anti-HCV IgM, alpha-fetoprotein levels, ultrasound and liver biopsy.
