Lymphocytosis in Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) Infectious Mononucleosis Lymphocytosis, increase in white blood cells, indicates diagnosis of EBV infection. The number of lymphocytes in EBV infection increases by 50-60% of total leukocytes. 10% are atypical lymphocytes with 95% T lymphocytes and 5% B lymphocytes. To confirm diagnosis, heterophile antibody test is recommended.
