The Delta Variant of Coronavirus

The Delta Variant of Coronavirus

The delta variant of coronavirus is also known as B.1.617.2. Due to the spike protein, this strain of virus can spread much faster. It is one of the most dominant strains in the United States. The delta variant of coronas virus is 50% more contagious than the alpha variant. As compared to the alpha strain that can spread from one infected person to one or two more individuals, the delta variant can spread to three to four persons. The subvariant of delta variant can easily penetrate the lung. It is much resistant to the effects of vaccines. The signs of symptoms of delta variant are almost the same as the alpha strain. However, according to the incoming literature, the loss of sense and cough are less common whereas headache, sore throat, fever, and runny nose are more common findings. Particularly in unvaccinated population, the delta variant of coronavirus can be lethal.
