Duodenum is the first part of the small intestine and it is where most of the digestion by enzymes takes place. Jejunum is the second part of the small intestine and this is where carbohydrates and proteins are absorbed. Lastly ileum is the third part of the small intestine which absorbs bile salts, vitamin B12 and any remaining products.
