Dislocation is the complete displacement of articular surfaces, that's different from subluxation which only partial displacement of the humeral head articular surface from the glenoid. Axillary nerve injury is not very uncommon in shoulder dislocation. It has to be checked and documented in all case. There are 5 types of anterior dislocation, these are Subcoracoid, Subglenoid, Subclavicular, Intrathoracic and Luxatio erecta (inferior). The diagnosis can made by history taking, and on clinical appearance there are flattening or depression (the roundness of the shoulder is lost) NOTE the X mark, the humeral head already move anteriorly and can be palpate NOTE the V mark. Roentgenographic establishes the type of the dislocation. You can see the abnormal humeral head position on the right X ray, compare it to the normal side on the left
