Popliteal fossa

Popliteal fossa is a diamond shaped fossa located posterior to the knee joint. It consists of 4 borders with a roof and a floor: Supero-medial border: Semimembranosus. Supero-lateral border: Biceps femoris. Infero-medial border: Medial head of the gastrocnemius. Infero-lateral border: Lateral head of the gastrocnemius and plantaris. Floor: Capsule of knee joint, popliteus muscle, posterior femur Roof: Popliteal fascia and skin Contents of popliteal fossa includes: 1. Popliteal artery 2. Popliteal vein 3. Tibial nerve 4.
