Administration of extraoral infraorbital nerve block 1. Adjust the patient in supine or seated position. 2. Palpate the infraorbital foramen. 3. Use betadine to prep the skin over the site of injection. 4. Draw 2-5 cc of anesthetic agent into the syringe. 5. Inject the syringe into the skin passing through subcutaneous tissue and muscle. 6. Slightly aspirate to ensure no rupture of blood vessel. In case of no blood, inject the anesthetic agent gradually. Note: The tissue will swell. 7. Remove the needle. 8. Massage the site of injection for 10-15 seconds.
