What is the anatomy of the infraorbital nerve, relevant to infraorbital nerve block?
Trigeminal nerve is divided into ophthalmic, maxillary and mandibular nerve. The terminal branch of maxillary nerve is infraorbital nerve. This nerve passes through the infraorbital foramen. The foramen is located exactly below the pupil when a patient is looking straight ahead. Infraorbital nerve innervates upper lip, upper incisor, premolars, canine, mesiobuccal root of first molar, lateral side of nose, lower eyelid, and ipsilateral mid face.
