Blue Rubber Bleb Nevus Syndrome (BRBNS) is a rare vascular disease characterized by multifocal venous malformation attributed to impaired development of blood vessels. The nevi can arise on the skin as well as the organs. The lesions in BRBNS are blue to black and purple. These lesions are soft, compressible, and tender. The most common location of these lesions are trunk, upper limbs, and sole of feet. The gastrointestinal system is the most commonly affected organ system. The lesions can bleed in the gastrointestinal tract thereby causing iron deficiency anemia. The Blue Rubber Bleb Nevus Syndrome can be managed conservatively by iron replacement therapy. The lesions on the skin can be removed via surgery or laser therapy. If significant anemia is caused by repetitive bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, surgery is carried out to remove the blebs.
