Mature Cystic Ovarian Teratoma

Mature Cystic Ovarian Teratoma

Mature cystic ovarian cyst is also known as ovarian dermoid cyst. Multiple germ cell layers give rise to this neoplasm. It is the most common ovarian neoplasm in young women. Mature cystic ovarian cysts are found incidentally due to their asymptomatic nature. However, these cysts can cause ovarian torsion resulting in severe pelvic pain. Plain radiography indicates structures with calcium element. Ultrasonography is the modality of choice for diagnosis; it demonstrates cystic adnexal mass.
