Carbuncle is a painful condition characterised by cluster of boils with multiple openings from where the pus discharges. It is a result of a bacterial infection most commonly by Staphylococcus aureus. They occur commonly in areas like face, neck, armpits, buttocks and thighs. Mainstay of treatment remains Incision and drainage. Other than that antibiotics, analgesics and use of anti-bacterial soap for daily cleansing is required.
