SYMPTOMS OF HYPERTHYROIDISM

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland produces an excess of thyroid hormones. There are various causes for this for example Graves disease, thyroiditis, functioning adenoma, excessive iodine intake etc. Hyperthyroidism produces various symptoms in the patient which can be remembered using the mnemonic SWEATING: "S"weating "W"eight loss "E"motional lability "A"ppetite increased "T"remor/"T"achycardia "I"ntolerance of heat/"I"rregular menstruation/"I"rritability "N"ervousness "G"oitre/"G"astrointestinal problems (diarrhea)
