Urethral caruncle is a benign lesion that arises at the posterior end of the urethra. The lesion is vascular in nature. Post-menopausal women are most commonly affected. Urethral caruncle is mostly asymptomatic. In symptomatic patients, pain and bleeding are the most common presenting complaints. The differential diagnosis of urethral caruncle are: - Tuberculosis - Lymphoma - Leiomyoma - Intestinal ectopia - Melanoma Since the development of urethral caruncle underlines low levels of estrogen, topical formulation of estrogen are first line treatment option.
