Ventricular septal defect

Ventricular septal defect

Ventricular septal defects are the most common congenital heart defects characterised by abnormal opening between the ventricles that causes left to right shunting of the blood. The right ventricle in these cases often undergoes hypertrophy and dilatation and the Pulmonary artery increases in size due to increase in pressure.
