Schmorl’s nodes, also known as intervertebral disc herniations, refers to the protrusion of cartilage of the disc to the adjacent vertebra. Schmorl nodes are a common finding present in people of all ages, however, it is more common in males. The schmorl nodes can be symptomatic or incidental finding. - Acute Schmorl Nodes These are associated with acute back pain thereby indicating inflammation - Chronic Schmorl Nodes These nodes are asymptomatic.
