There are three types of pacemakers. - Single chamber pacemaker – SCP consists of only one lead. This lead connects with right atrium or right ventricle. Therefore, SCP produces either As or Ap in the atrium or Vs or Vp in the ventricle. - Dual chamber pacemaker – DCP consists of two leads. One lead is connected in the right atrium and the other in right ventricle. Therefore, DCP produces any one of these configurations: AsVs, AsVp, ApVs, ApVp. - Biventricular pacemakers – Biventricular pacemakers are used in Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT). It consists of three leads. Each lead is connected with a different chamber. Upon disturbance in rhythm, pacemaker sends a painless signal to rectify it.
