I’m a high school student, first year, I’m interested in following a medical career path, but.... I hate looking at infections and gross things... Can I still be a doctor?

You become desensitised very quickly. Recommend trying care work before if you aren't sure; you'll get a new insight into humans and what you'll be seeing on a daily basis, and it'll help patient interaction skills in your medical career.

There are dozens and dozens or other careers in medicine other than doctors. Many of which don’t interact with gross infectious things on a regular basis. I do agree with the previous comment, you will become desensitized after a time.

Bear with it for a few years of med school and then you can opt for cleaner options like radiology. However, most people get desensitized during med school!

If you really want to be a doctor you will learn how you have to behave and you will forget everything!!
