Harlequin Icthyosis
Harlequin type Icthyosis is a genetic disorder which causes thickened skin all over the body. There is a diamond shaped thick plates separated by cracks.It also affects the skin overlying ear ,eye ,nose.It causes difficulty in movement of arms and chest .These fall of over the few weeks but there are lot of complications so prognosis is worse! There is incidence of 1 in 3,00,000 births. The first case was reported in 1750.
Yes! I saw a documentary of several survivors. Two different families with 2 children each with this awful disease! Also one girl on FB that leads a very normal life
