Cauliflower ear or boxer's ear is a deformity of external ear that results from a blunt trauma to ear. It is mainly associated with sports injuries, commonly seen in boxers, wrestlers and rugby players. Any trauma to ear can lead to hematoma formation and rupture of small blood vessels, which may clot and block the blood supply. The underlying cartilage may die and fold on itself resulting in it's typical deformed shape. Early intervention can easily prevent this condition. However, if hematoma gets infected, complications like perichondritis may occur.
