perichondritis of pinna

Pinna perichondritis is an infection of the perichondral lining of the ear cartilage. It is primarily caused by pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcus aureus. Patients will present with an erythematous, swollen, hot external ear, with sparing of the lobule.
