The Calot's Triangle

The Calot's Triangle

Identification and safe dissection of the Calot's triangle is the cornerstone of cholecystectomy, whether open or laparoscopic. This anatomical landmark is formed by the inferior surface of the liver superiorly, cystic duct inferiorly and the common hepatic duct medially. This is the site where cystic artery supplying the gallbladder is identified and ligated.
