*Day dreaming or Seizures?* A blank stare, beginning and ending abruptly, usually lasting a few seconds is called absence seizures. Person is unaware, maybe accompanied by rapid blinking or chewing movements. These seizures are especially prevalent in 3-14 years old children. This is considered a type of epilepsy. These type of seizures can come and go so quickly that no-one notices anything unusual and infant people often mistake them for day dreaming or not paying attention. They have a serious effect on child's concentration and learning. It is not uncommon for a child to have 50-100 absence seizures in a day. Some people might also confuse it with ADHD. Absence seizures left untreated may cause learning difficulties, significant injuries and behaviour problems.
