Genioglossus. Prevents tongue from falling back and thus prevents blocking of airways through mouth

Genioglossus. This muscle is called safety muscle of tongue because when this muscle gets paralyzed the tongue will roll back and closes the laryngeal opening which results in suffocation.

Genioglossus. It prevents the tounge from falling back on the oropharynx. But due to its paralysis will fall back and cause suffocating to the patient

Genioglossus is supplied by hypoglossal nerve..so nerve lesion of hypoglossal nerve may cause paralysis.. nd palatoglossis is the muscle supplied by vagus10 rest all by hypoglossal nerve12..
