The hand could not be salvaged and the patient ended up requiring a below the elbow amputation at the level of the wrist (wrist disarticulation). Unfortunately not much is known about the patient outcomes other than this was the primary presentation of his injury. However, in similar situations, a surgeon would likely seek to amputate the hand, as reconstruction would be extremely difficult.
