_it partly separates thorax from neck _It is triangular _APEX attached to transverse process of C7 _BASEattached to inner border of first rib _Morphologically it represents flattened tendon ofSCALENUS MINIMUS(PLEURALIS) _Inferior surface is fused with cervical pleura and beneath pleura is apex of lung _Superiorly it is related with subclavian vessels NOTE :THORAX IS AN INTERESTING TOPIC. PLEURA ,LUNGS ARE SUBTOPICS IN IT . So, coming to brief note about pleura , TWO LAYERS PARIETAL AND VISCERAL (NOT MUCH ABOUT VISCERAL AS IT IS TIGHTLY ADHERED TO LUNG BUT HERE IS A POINT TO REMEMBER it completely covers lung except at hilum and along attachment of pulmonary ligament) PARIETAL PLEURA it is divided into four parts COSTAL PLEURA DIAPHRAGMATIC PLEURA MEDIASTINAL PLEURA CERVICAL PLEURA(DISCUSSED ABOVE) it covers apex of lung
