Muscle fibers consist of multiple flattened nuclei, a sarcolemma membrane, transverse (T) tubules (membrane invaginations that penetrate the cell) that are important for muscular contraction/activation, and sarcoplasm, which contains myofilaments within the myofibrils and mitonchondira (to supply ATP), glycogen (stores glucose to serve as fuel), myoglobin (oxygen delivering protein).
