Lizzie Velasquez(Marfanoid–progeroid–lipodystrophy syndrome)

She was born with an extremely rare congenital disease called Marfanoid–progeroid–lipodystrophy syndrome that, among other symptoms, prevents her from accumulating body fat and gaining weight. Her conditions resulted in bullying during her childhood and ultimately inspired her to take up motivational speaking.this is from her account "Hope this helps someone today. 💜 #DaretobeKind Today I watched Wonder for the second time. As I laughed and cried my eyes out just like I did the first time I watched it, two words came to mind. Thank you. Thank you to the kids in elementary school who accepted me even though I knew they were unsure of me. Thank you to the kids in the cafeteria who made sure I didn’t notice when other kids were pointing and laughing at me. Thank you to my teachers who included me just like everyone else but also made sure I knew I could confide in them. Thank you to my parents who hugged me and encouraged me as I walked into a classroom for the first time. Wonder has such an incredibly special place in my heart. I have so many memories of walking down a hallway always with my head down in hopes of nobody giving me a strange look. Memories of thinking I was the only one in the world who looked different. If you are someone who knows exactly what I’m talking about, I hope this post gives you hope. Think of the people you would say thank you to. Trust me, they are there. Without the kindness I’ve been shown throughout my life, I wouldn’t be who I am today. If you are ever in a situation where being mean seems way easier than being kind, I want you to remember this. “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
